The handmade leather tobacco pouch – Let’s save the craft
Truly crafted items are disappearing, have you noticed?
Nowadays, machine made articles, with a tiny handmade feature, are sold in markets as “100% handmade”, but they are not!
Durability and character of handmade items, cannot be compared with industrial or semi industrial products. Handmade articles simply do not break and that’s it. By purchasing an handmade leather tobacco pouch you are guaranteed an article uniquely created and long long lasting … let’s stop the buy, use and throw away culture.
To preserve leather crafting as an art form is a very important aspect of our job. Each one of the leather tobacco pouches is conceptualized and crafted in the traditional way.
Our co national Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa used to say “Art is never finished, only abandoned“. That’s why, we preserve the craft, simply by doing it.
Andrea and Emiliano, Italian artisans from Milan and Rome, make the tobacco pouches piece by piece, giving each of the items the greatest care and attention to details.
Take a look at the tobacco pouch yourself, you can also have it in 9 natural leather colours and guess what also PERSONALIZED.

Well, before I start, I’ll state the obvious. Of course, I do make and sell tobacco pouches, but this post is meant to be genuine advice for anyone who is looking into purchasing a rolling tobacco pouch.
At the end of the day, I am a tobacco smoker too!
First, I would recommend you to look into your lifestyle.
What kind of work do you do? What do you do in your your spare time? What kind of clothing do you usually wear? Do you drive a car, ride a motorcycle? Continue reading »
The story in brief
About 4 years ago I made my first leather tobacco pouch “which I still have”, but no longer use. I am kind of keeping it as memorabilia.
Friends kept commenting on it and someone started asking if I could make one for them, their friends or for someone’s birthday etc… At the time I was very reluctant to make anything not strictly related to my work, which I wrongly thought it was to design and make street fashion leather bags; I never quite considered to get into making accessories. Here is the beginning of the Chiwit Design leather tobacco pouch blog. I finally got to set the structure for it and I will try to write as many “useful” articles or snippets as I can, obviously not letting myself go wild and forget about making the products.
Anyway, I am learning about blogging, I hope a good job will come out from it.
Take care for now and please do not be shy post away as much as you can.
